Bob was born Jan 27, 1925, in Oelwein, IA, to Joe R. & Grace M. Cannady. Bob enlisted in the Navy on July 1, 1943, where he attended Ursinus College, Muhlenberg College & Cornell College & was honorably discharged on July 28, 1946. He married Jean Preston on June 5, 1947, in Iowa City, IA. In 1948 Bob joined his father-in-law, Warren L. Preston #89636577, at Preston Lumber Center in Oelwein & later became the owner & operator; Bob retired in 1980. After Jean's death in 1987 he married his 2nd wife, Maxine Miles on July 1, 1989, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Bob was a life-long "Hawkeyes Fan" and enjoyed being a comic and pulling funny gags. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Oelwein Jaycees, Oelwein Rotary Club, Oelwein Lions Club & past president of the Oelwein Chamber of Commerce. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean, his 2nd wife, Maxine, his brother, James Cannady, two half-brothers, Leonard & Melvin Stella, & his parents, Joe & Grace. His children: Cherly (Ron) Smallman of Norfolk, VA; Terry (Mary) Cannady of Decorah, IA; Gary (Connie) Cannady of Cedar Rapids, IA; Michael (Marilyn) Perez of Blossom, TX; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
