Hoegemeyer, 76, of Hooper will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper. He died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Fremont Area Medical Center. He was born Aug. 14, 1926, on the family farm near Hooper. He was the third generation on that farm, and in 1967 received the Pioneer Farm Family Award for 100 years of family ownership from Aksarben He was a 1943 graduate of Scribner High School in Scribner. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during 1945 and '46. When he came home, he farmed the family farm. He moved into Scribner in 1953 where he had a blacksmith shop. He was active in the Volunteer Fire Department in Scribner. He moved back to the farm in 1965 until he retired in 1990 and moved to Hooper. He then worked part time for Alfred Egbergs, doing general repairs and blacksmithing. He married Loretta Bartling on Aug. 27, 1947, in Scribner. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper where he had served as a church elder, as well as various other offices. He also had served on the boards of the co-op, the school and Concordia Insurance Co. He was a member of American Legion Post 18 of Hooper. Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Lorrie Hoegemeyer of Hooper; three sons, David (and wife, Connie) Hoegemeyer of Lincoln, Joel Hoegemeyer of Glenwood, Iowa, and Daniel (and wife, Bonnie) Hoegemeyer of Lincoln; two sisters, Elveretta Sutterfield of Loveland, Colo., and Valiera (Mrs. Dennis) Stockamp of Scribner; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a son. The Rev. Carl Lehmann will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Thursday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery north of Hooper with the United States flag presentation by American Legion Post 18.
