Description	:	Funeral services for Robert G. Wies, 76, of Brunswick were held Friday, May 7 at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Father Kieth Rezac officiated the 10 a.m. service with interment in St. Ludger Cemetery in Creighton. Military Honors were given by American Legion #357 of Brunswick. Robert George Wies, son of Aloysius Joseph and Laura Stokes Wies, was born August 7, 1922 at Pierre, SD. He attended Blunt Public School in Blunt, SD. Robert George Wies, son of Aloysius Joseph and Laura Stokes Wies, was born August 7, 1922 at Pierre, SD. He attended Blunt Public School in Blunt, SD. He was married to Marcella Wortman on February 7, 1950 at St. Ignatius Church in Brunswick. Nine children were born to them. Robert was inducted into the Army Signal Corps on December 10, 1945 at Fort Snelling, MN. He was a top secret cryptograph technician and served in the European Theater of Operation from September 6, 1946 to January 28, 1947. He also worked in the Pentagon. He received the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). He was discharged March 2, 1947 at the separation at Fort Sheridan, IL with the rank of Technician 5. After his discharge, he returned to Nebraska and farmed west of Brunswick for 48 years. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church at Brunswick, American Legion Post 357 of Brunswick, VFW Post 1151 of Creighton and Knights of Columbus. He served on the Brunswick Rural Fire Board since 1957. Robert died May 4, 1999 at Omaha at the age of seventy nine. Survivors include his wife, Marcella; mother, Laura Wies of Creighton; three sons and six daughters; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sisters, Dorothy Tarrant of Or., Eleanor Johnson of WA and JoAnn Wagner of Winnetoon; brothers, Joe of Orchard and Donald of Creighton. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Gerald, grandson, Tony Lorenzen and granddaughter, Laura Patterson. ...The Creighton News 12 May 1999
