Description	:	Robert H "Bob" Shepard, 72, Overbrook, died Monday, Dec 4, 2006, at his home. He was born Feb 28, 1934, in Wakarusa, the son of Roy and Lois Martindale Shepard. He graduated from Carbondale High School and was a member of the 1951 State Champion Basketball team. He worked as an iron-worker and a construction superintendent in several different states. Read More	Robert H "Bob" Shepard, 72, Overbrook, died Monday, Dec 4, 2006, at his home. He was born Feb 28, 1934, in Wakarusa, the son of Roy and Lois Martindale Shepard. He graduated from Carbondale High School and was a member of the 1951 State Champion Basketball team. He worked as an iron-worker and a construction superintendent in several different states. He was a member of Overbrook United Methodist Church and Past Master of Ridgeway Lodge #62, AF & AM in Overbrook. He belonged to the Scottish Rite KCCH, and the Arab Shrine where he belonged to the Antique Unit, Topless Unit, Hospital Dads, Twin Lakes and Kaw Valley Shriner Clubs, Past Camaxtli of Order of Quetzalcoatl and the Royal Order of Jesters. He was bingo chairman at the Arab Temple for many years, where he earned the nickname "Bingo Bob". In 1999 he was honored as the Noble of the Year of the Arab Shrine. He married Marlene Christiason. They later divorced. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; four sons: Robert R Shepard and his wife, Sharon, Louisiana, Mo; Russell Shephard and his wife, Beckey, Overbrook; Michael Jones and his wife, Lorraine, Topeka; and Kevin Jones, Topeka; three daughters: Debra Wyatt, Emporia; Ann Sand and her husband, Jerry, Overbrook; and Janis Hinkle and her husband, Morris, Topeka; two brothers: Charles Shepard, Carbondale; and Geroge Chepard, Valley Falls; three sisters: Mary Snell, Overbrook; and Lola Tryon and Margarette Piper, both of Carbondale; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Shepard; sisters Lilly Masek and Katherine Shepard; and one grandson. Bob was a selfless man of limitless compassion, who gave of himself and expected nothing in return. Above all, he loved his family. Funeral services were Thursday, Dec 7, at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. Burial was in Overbrook Cemetery. Dec 14, 2006 Osage County Herald
