Born August 9, 1920, in Fort Madison, IA, he was the son of George and Kathryn Uhlenhake Krogmeier. On March 20, 1982, he married Helen Krekel Fidler in Burlington. Robert worked as a repairman for Northwestern Bell for 32 years. Bob attended Fort Madison schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the World War II from January 8, 1942 until January 6, 1946. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Moose Lodge, and managed a little league team for nine years. Bob was an Assistant Scout Master for three years. He enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and going to baseball games. He also assisted with the building of Notre Dame football field and Community Field. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona; his parents; two brothers, George and Joe; two sisters, Irene and Donna; two brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law.
