Description	:	Robert "Bob" Thuen, 59, Bismarck, passed away on Sept. 21, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Aurdal Lutheran Church, Portland. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Bismarck Funeral Home. Robert Harold Thuen was born Dec. 4, 1954, in Tacoma, Wash., to Harold and Ione (Domier) Thuen. The family returned to the Mayville- Portland area, where Bob attended school and graduated from Mayville-Portland High School in 1973. He then received his associate's degree in electronics from North Dakota State School of Science and started working for Audio Systems in Bismarck. He farmed for a brief period, but decided to return to Audio Systems. In April 1985, he married Dawn Eide of Portland, at Perry Lutheran Church, rural Portland. Their daughter, Sarah, was born in September 1988. Bob and Dawn have spent their married life working and living in Bismarck. Bob became a project manager at AVI Systems in Bismarck. Co-workers just awarded Bob last week with a 40-year attendance plaque. Bob took a lot of pride in his workmanship and really enjoyed his co-workers. Bob was very proud of his daughter and her many accomplishments. He also loved spending time with his family and friends cruising on the pontoon on the Missouri River. He was quite the captain! Bob is survived by his wife, Dawn, Bismarck; his daughter, Sarah, Minneapolis; and his siblings, Beckie (Bruce) Kemmer, Havelock, N.C., Wayne (Shelly), Horace, and Lisa (Bob Jr.) Carlson, Stoughton, Wis. He is also survived by five nieces and nine nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts and uncles and many wonderful sisters- and brothers-in-law. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ione; one brother, Mark; his grandparents, Alvin and Mildred Domier and Hans and Ella Thuen; his father-in-law, Oscar Eide Jr.; and several aunts and uncles. We will miss Bob's easy going personality, his smirk, also known as "the Thuen look" before he laid a "one-liner" on you, and his overall warmth and kindness. Contributor: Eileen Strand (50053923)
