Read More	OBIT: Robert Taylor accidentally shot and killed himself with a rifle this morning at 3 o'clock in the backyard of the Taylor home on the old Fulton place outside of the city. During an uproar in the chicken house and thinking that someone or some animal was molesting the chickens, Mr. Taylor hurriedly dressed, grabbed his rifle and ran out of the kitchen door and down the walk. On account of the darkness and in his hurry, Mr. Taylor stumbled and fell in a hole in the sidewalk and as he fell, threw the rifle which was already for shooting out in front of him. The gun discharged and the bullet passed completely through the body, entering under the left arm and coming out under the right shoulder. Mr. Taylor got up and started for the house, calling to his wife. She met him at the kitchen door and helped him inside, where he collapsed. Mrs. Taylor asked him what happened and he said, "I fell." Those were the last intelligible words he was able to say. Dr. Pritchard was called, but was not able to render any assistance and Mr. Taylor died in a few minutes after the doctor arrived. The Coroner A. T. Gregory was called and after the investigation pronounced the death accidental. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife and five children. He was 44 years old; and had made his home in the Kittitas Valley for a number of years, most of the time residing on his ranch in the Shushuskin Hills. The body is at the Bridgham Parlor. Gregory has called an inquest in connection with the death early yesterday morning of Robert Taylor, who died after having been shot with his own rifle when he stumbled and fell while on his way to the chicken house to investigate a commotion there. The coroner's jury spent part of the forenoon at the Taylor place, a mile northeast of the city, investigating the situation. The inquest probably will be completed this afternoon. Ellensburg Daily Record, October 1, 1920 ------------------------------------ VERDICT OF ACCIDENTAL DEATH: A coroner's jury called by Coroner A. T. Gregory, to substantiate his opinion of the cause of the death of Robert Taylor, who died from one discharge of his own rifle Wednesday morning this morning returned a verdict of accident death. An autopsy was preformed on the body by Doctors Taylor and Bull. Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 in the Baptist church, Rev. R. V. Ashmun in charge.
