Read More	Robert "Bob" Ahlers, 88, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Reverend Kevin Richter will celebrate Mass. Burial with military honors conducted by the American Legion Wasmer Post 241 in Le Mars will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5:30 p.m., and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund. Robert was born September 30, 1927, the fifth child of Henry J. and M. Kathryn (Nuel) Ahlers. He was raised on the family farm south of Le Mars and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1945. Robert was drafted in the fall of 1951 amidst the Korean War and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon completion of basic training at Camp Pendleton, CA he was assigned to the First Marine Air Wing, VMR-152 in Barbers Point, HI. Robert attained the rank of SSGT and was proud to be a Marine. On June 15, 1963, Robert and Cyrilla "Cy" Ruden were united in marriage in Le Mars. They lived and raised their three sons on the family farm. Although they moved to town in 1991, Robert remained active on the farm. Robert was a 62-year member of American Legion Wasmer Post 241 and served on the rifle squad. He was a lifetime member of the Korean War Last Man's Club and was a 60-year member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife Cy of 52 years; sons: John (Debra) Ahlers of Le Mars, and their four children: Rebecca (Jordon) Vittetoe, Jill (Vijay) Permeswaran, Kristen Ahlers (fiancé Luke Fober) and Daniel Ahlers; Greg Ahlers of Algona; Mark (Katherine) Ahlers of Marion, and their four children: Grace, Leah, Anna and Nicholas; a brother: Henry A. "Hank" Ahlers; sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Mousel, Erma Bush, Jeanne (Larry) Woll, Bonnie Ruden, Lorraine Ruden; brothers-in-law: Eldon (Mildred) Ruden, Tom (Marva) Ruden; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother: William "Bill" and his wife Lois, his sisters: Ruth Agnes "Elizabeth" Ahlers OSF and Ruth Ahlers, sister-in-law: Mildred Ahlers wife of Henry, father- and mother-in-law: Joseph and Mary Ruden, brothers-and sisters-in-law: Silvius and Margie Ruden, Harold and Gracie Ruden, Walter Ruden USN, Raphael "Ray" Ruden, Joseph "Joe" Ruden, Leroy Mousel, Leland Bush, Florence and Bernie Madsen. Pallbearers will be Daniel Ahlers, Matt Ahlers, Carol Joyce, Dan Ryan, Gerald Hodgson and Terry Reuter.
