Ruth Mary Ahlers was born September 20, 1920 in Le Mars, Iowa to Henry J. and Kathryn (Nuel) Ahlers. Ruth grew up on the family farm south of Le Mars and was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School (now Gehlen). Following graduation, Ruth began her career with Le Mars Savings Bank (now Primebank). Beginning in the Bank's bookkeeping department, Ruth worked in many different areas of the bank during her career. At the time of her retirement in 2006, Ruth held the office of Senior Vice President and served as a member of the Bank's Board of Directors. Ruth enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. The greatest joy in Ruth's life revolved around her involvement with her nieces and nephews and in later years, with her great nieces and nephews. Ruth's faith was always very important to her. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph parish, as well as a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Christian Mothers. Survivors include two brothers, Hank Ahlers of Le Mars and Robert Ahlers and his wife Cy of Le Mars; eleven nieces and nephews and thirty-three great nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Henry J. and Kathryn (Nuel) Ahlers; a brother, Bill Ahlers; a sister, Sister Ruth Agnes (Elizabeth) Ahlers, OSF; and two sisters-in-law, Lois Ahlers and Mildred Ahlers.
