Read More	Shelburne Free Press & Economist, July 9, 1947 - ROBERT JOHN RICHEY: On Sunday, June 22nd, 1947, there entered into rest one of Shelburne's oldest and most highly respected residents in the person of Robert John Richey, in his 88th year. Death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ross Pacey, where he had been confined to bed for five months. The late Mr. Richey was born at Huntington County, Quebec, in 1860, and at the age of seventeen came with his parents, three brothers and two sisters to Amaranth Township and settled at Black's Corners. In 1891 he married Margaret Crombie and lived on the Richey homestead until 28 years ago, when they moved to Shelburne to spend their declining years. Since the death of his wife four years ago, he made his home with his daughter. Mr. Richey leaves to mourn his loss, one son John W., Mulmur, and one daughter, Margaret, and six grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters also survive, namely: Samuel, Black's Corners, and Joseph, Forks of the Credit; Mrs. Wm. Irwin, Toronto, and Mrs. John Crombie, Shelburne. One brother, William, predeceased him several years ago.
