Read More	Clay Center Dispatch website, August 6, 2012 CLAY CENTER-- Robert Marshall, 90, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center. Mr. Marshall was born April 20, 1922, at Arapahoe, Neb., the son of Harry and Martha (Morse) Marshall. He grew up in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific region. He was a 2nd class petty officer of the engineering department aboard the USS Washington battleship. He married Irene Spellman on April 5, 1944. He operated Marshall Electric with his father and brother for many years and worked at Gilmore-Tatge for 10 years before retiring. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2011. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, Kiwanis, Elks, American Legion and was a volunteer fireman. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Reynold Marshall and one sister, Evelyn McDonald. Survivors include one daughter, Deeann Blattner and husband Larry of Dodge City; one son, Doug Marshall and wife Vicki of Brookville, Kan.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, Clay Center, with the Rev. James Byers officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Clay Center Presbyterian Church.
