Description	:	FLORENCE -- Robert L. Anderson, 82, retired steam fitter welder, died Sunday (Aug. 20, 2000) in Newton. He was born June 23, 1918, in Chautauqua to Fred and Medalene (Clayton) Anderson. He married Aliene Ubben March 31, 1956. She survives of Florence. He attended schools at Wilmot, Keighly, Oil Hill Grade School and was a 1937 graduate of El Dorado High School. He also attended Fillmore Electric Welding School. He served in the U.S. Army with the 269th combat engineer battalion in France, Belgium and Germany. Anderson, 82, retired steam fitter welder, died Sunday (Aug. 20, 2000) in Newton. He was born June 23, 1918, in Chautauqua to Fred and Medalene (Clayton) Anderson. He married Aliene Ubben March 31, 1956. She survives of Florence. He attended schools at Wilmot, Keighly, Oil Hill Grade School and was a 1937 graduate of El Dorado High School. He also attended Fillmore Electric Welding School. He served in the U.S. Army with the 269th combat engineer battalion in France, Belgium and Germany. He was a member of Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union Local 538 in Johnson City, Tenn., and life member of Elks and VFW in El Dorado. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and crafts. Other survivors include: one brother, Billy L. Anderson of Riverside, Calif.; and two sisters, Carlene Johnson of Wichita and Jimmie Lu Boucher of Latham. He was preceded in death by one brother, Carson Anderson; and a sister, Maxine. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Point Cemetery in Cedar Point with Pastor Larry Timm officiating.
