Bob passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce is in charge of the arrangements. Robert L. “Bob” Zierke was born March 1, 1935, to Ervin and Abbie (Urwin) Zierke. Bob was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church at Pierce. He attended Pierce Elementary and graduated from Pierce High School in 1954. Bob married Glenda Holmes on Jan. 19, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Foster. After married, the couple lived in Pierce. Bob worked for Omar Bread Company, Coke Cola Company, Andy’s Tire Service, was a manager at Montgomery Ward Tire Department until the business closed, car salesman at Jenny Motors, and worked at Dale Electronics until he retired in 2000. Bob was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce, and the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tilden; a member of the Pierce Volunteer Fire Department and was past fire chief; was a member and on the board of the Rod and Gun Club at Pierce; and taught hunters safety classes. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbecuing, bowling, and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob and Glenda were married for 63 years. Bob enjoyed his morning coffee group downtown. He is survived by his spouse, Glenda Zierke of Pierce; four daughters, Cynthia (John) Sell of Nebraska City, Vickie (Keith) May of Lynch, Susan Petersen and Rick Royale of Unadilla and Dorla (Kenneth) Jacob of Meadow Grove; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Koehler of Pierce; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Abbie; one brother, Leroy; and two sisters, Connie Zierke and Donna Lewis. Organist for the service will be Dottie Ahlers with congregational hymns “Abide With Me,” “In The Garden” and “Here I am Lord.” Casket bearers will be grandsons Chris Ryan, John Petersen, Jeff May, Jared Jacob, Bob Petersen and Andrew Sell.
