Hering of Royal, who passed away unexpectedly following a heart attack while he slept early Sunday morning, Jan. 18, were conducted at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at Brunswick on Tuesday with the Rev. Anthony Wilwerding officiating. Interment was in St. Ludger Cemetery at Creighton. Robert L. Hering was born to Roy J. and Agnes W. Hering on Nov. 14, 1911 at Hering's Mill, north of Royal. Anthony Wilwerding officiating. Interment was in St. Ludger Cemetery at Creighton. Robert L. Hering was born to Roy J. and Agnes W. Hering on Nov. 14, 1911 at Hering's Mill, north of Royal. He attended grade school in rural district 37, St. Ludger Academy in Creighton and was graduated from Royal High School in 1930. He was baptized, received his first communion and was confirmed at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. He married Miss Zola V. Anson on July 2, 1949 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing. He was a musician, playing the piano accordion and drums. He organized dance bands, known as "Bob Hering and His Sardines" and "The Royal Nighthawks". The latter including his brother, Joe. He was employed as a service station operator, gravel pump operator, carpenter and painter. He worked some at Lusk, Wyo. and at Stephan, S.D., Indian Mission in 1932. Later he operated cafes in Royal and for the past four and a half years had been custodian at the Royal school. Surviving are his wife, Zola; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Hering of Royal; a brother, Joe V. Hering of Beatrice and three sisters, Miss Mary of Yankton, S.D., Mis. Arthur J. (Helen) Meuwissen of Mt. Clemens, Mich. and Mrs. John (Jeri Southern) Kitzmiller of Hollywood, Calif. ...The Creighton News 29 Jan 1959
