Description	:	Robert L. Kracke, 64, of Wilber was born on December 8, 1950 in Crete to Robert E. and Irene (Riens) Kracke. He passed away in Omaha on January 6, 2015 while awaiting a liver transplant. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Clatonia where he remained an active life-long member. Kracke, 64, of Wilber was born on December 8, 1950 in Crete to Robert E. and Irene (Riens) Kracke. He passed away in Omaha on January 6, 2015 while awaiting a liver transplant. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Clatonia where he remained an active life-long member. He was united in marriage to Vergene Schlake at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell on August 17, 1974. They resided on a farm east of Wilber which is located just down the road from where he grew up. Robert was always proud of the fact that he closed down 50% of the schools he attended. He started out attending a rural country school “Happy Hollow”, when that school closed, he attended Clatonia Schools which soon consolidated to form Wilber-Clatonia Schools. He received a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from UNL where he was a member of the livestock judging team. He spent the majority of his life farming. He was well known for producing club lambs and always said, “If you know how many sheep you have, you don't have enough.” He also raised cattle and hogs but later in life, got out of the livestock business and started substitute teaching during the winter months. No matter where he went, he would have students run up to him announcing that he was their favorite substitute. After his retirement from farming, he became a crop adjuster which was an occupation he did up until his death. He truly loved his job and the people he worked with whether it be the agents or the farmers. This line of work took him to many states throughout the Midwest and he developed many lasting friendships. Bob always took time to attend his children's activities and later the activities of his grandchildren. Regardless of his health, he was always on the sidelines at ballgames or sitting in the bleachers at the fair watching the grandkids show their livestock. His family and the Lord were the two things he loved the most. It was his strong faith that helped him get through the hard times in life and he made sure his family knew that he would be a winner regardless if he got the transplant or not. He found comfort in knowing that death meant that he would find his home in heaven. Survivors include his wife, Vergene of Wilber; one daughter, Lana Musil and husband Daryl of Wilber; two sons, Eric Kracke and wife Annette of DeWitt and Shaun Kracke of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Jordan and Grant Musil and Trenton and Reegan Kracke; one sister, Jeanie Bergmeier and husband Rodney of Clatonia; one brother, Donald Kracke and wife Jayne of DeWitt; mother-in-law, Delores Schlake of Firth; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis Schlake and wife Sue of Cortland, Marcia Astleford and husband Brad of Dodge City, KS, Janice Jacobsen and husband Bill of Adams and Susan Jeffrey and husband Don of Omaha; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Vernon Schlake; special aunt and uncle, LaVerne and Emil “Tim” Essman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Clatonia with Pastor Steven Kahrs officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Clatonia. A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday in the basement of the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory for future designation. The family will meet and greet friends and relatives on Friday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at the Fox Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 12:00 noon Thursday until 9:00 P.M. Friday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Saturday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
