Lueders, 65, of 116 N. 6th st., will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Pete Hagglund officiating. Burail will be in Oakland Cemetery, Clinton, where military rites will be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, with the family present from 4-8 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Mr. Lueders died Sunday, Oct. 13, 1996, at Samaritan North Hospital,Clinton. He was employed as an industrial arts teacher at Savanna High School from 1957 to 1963, where he had coached football, track and started the wrestling program. He came to Clinton High School in 1963, where he also taught industrial arts and coached the football, track and wrestling teams, retiring in 1992. He was born April 7,1931,in Clinton, the son of Henry and Ruby Naeve Lueders. He married Carole Schroeder on June 17, 1956, in Clinton. He was a 1949 graduate of Clinton High School and a graduate of Bradley University,where he had been named to the Bradley Sports Hall of Fame. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He coached 15 state high school wrestling champions and had 116 state place winners. He had one a team state championship and four third-place teams. He had 293 career duel meet wins. in 33 years of coaching, he had only one losing season. He was a member of the Iowa High School Coaches Hall of Fame and had been named Coach of the year by the IHSA. His welding classes won numerous competitions statewide. After his retirement, he taught industrial technology at Clinton Community College and coached girls trackatClinton High School. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, Bradley B-Club and the Iowa High School Wrestling Association and its hall of fame. He enjoyed working with young people in all sports and fishing and camping with his wife, conquering many slab crappies. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kristy(MRs. Robert) Schneeberger and Kasey Lueders, both of Clinton, and Kelly(Mrs. James)Hummel,Davenport; sons, Jeffrey Lueders,Freeport, Ill., and J.D.Lueders,Bryant; 11 grandchildren and his mother, of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his father and grandson.
