Description	:	OTTUMWA, Iowa — Robert L. Overturf, 90, of Davenport, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 7:12 a.m. April 27, 2016, at The Fountains in Bettendorf. He was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Davis County, Iowa, to Lloyd Elmer and Esther Irene Wagner Overturf. He married Marilyn June Wittenmyer on Feb. 6, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2012. He enjoyed spending time with his... Read More	OTTUMWA, Iowa — Robert L. Overturf, 90, of Davenport, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 7:12 a.m. April 27, 2016, at The Fountains in Bettendorf. He was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Davis County, Iowa, to Lloyd Elmer and Esther Irene Wagner Overturf. He married Marilyn June Wittenmyer on Feb. 6, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2012. A 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Bob was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and Japan. He worked for 35 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing euchre with his best friend, Charlie, and watching the Cardinals and Hawkeyes on TV. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. Bob enjoyed fishing, traveling and wintering in Arizona with his wife. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Charlie Brown, Kandy, Kim Shannon and the staff at The Fountains for the love and care they gave to Bob. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; a sister, Mildred Mottet; brothers-in-law, Warren Young, Delmar Lindsey, Keith Pickrell and Ray Mottet. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor Bill Evans officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery.
