Orangeville Banner, November 5, 1942, page 12 Robert L. Cobean The death occurred in Lord Dufferin hospital on Wednesday, October 28th, of Robert Lawrence Cobean in his 60th year. He had been in failing health for the last three years with heart trouble and was admitted to the hospital on October 16th. While there he suffered a stroke, which hastened the end. Born in Mono in 1882, Mr. Cobean was the son of Robert and Margaret Cobean. He later moved to Albion township with his parents. He received his public school education in Mono Mills. In August of last year he sold the homestead to Col. Torrance Beardmore and moved to a farm in the west side of Caledon township, where he had since lived. On June 5th, 1937, he married Mary Viola Parker, daughter of the late James Stephen, of Uxbridge, ON, who survives with one son, John, and two stepchildren, Lawrence and Marion Parker. Mrs. David C. Cook (Alice), of Caledon, is a sister. Mr. Cobean was a good neighbor, an industrious man and a kind and affectionate husband and father. He was a member of Harris Masonic Lodge, Orangeville, an adherent of the Anglican church and a Liberal in his political belief. The funeral was held from the Orangeville Funeral Home, Mill St., on Friday afternoon. The service was conducted by the Rev. P. I. Davidge, pastor of Alton United Church. Interment was made in St. John's cemetery, 7th Line, Mono. Full Masonic honors were accorded and at the graveside the committal service of the Order was read by officers of Harris Lodge. The pallbearers were Messrs. George Patterson, Jas. Kidd, Harry Lyness, George Murray, Lenvard Purdon and Carman Corbett. There was a large attendance of neighbors and friends. Lovely floral tributes were contributed by: The Wife and Family, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cook, Harris Masonic Lodge, Stafford Speers, Mr. and Mrs. A. Rayburn, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Clark and Mr. and Mrs. R. Morrison. Friends and relatives were present from Toronto, Uxbridge and other points.
