Description	:	Robert "Bob" Lee Emert, age 86, of Sabetha, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Sabetha Community Hospital. Bob, one of eight children, was born April 27, 1924, the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Hatz) Emert in Home, Kansas. The family moved to Sabetha in 1937. Read More	Robert "Bob" Lee Emert, age 86, of Sabetha, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Sabetha Community Hospital. Bob, one of eight children, was born April 27, 1924, the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Hatz) Emert in Home, Kansas. The family moved to Sabetha in 1937. Bob attended Sabetha High School, and was active in football and basketball. On November 7, 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Force to serve his country in the war effort. Bob was honorably discharged from the service on March 1, 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. After the service Bob moved back to Sabetha where he met and married Melba Marie Grey on November 24, 1949, she preceded him in death on October 27, 1986. To this union two children were born, Deborah Ann, and Robert Scott. Bob found work covering floors for a number of years and in 1965 opened Emert Floor Covering, located in downtown Sabetha. The business was sold in 1983, but he continued to work for the new owners whenever his help was needed. Bob also drove the Nemaha County Transportation bus and delivered Meals on Wheels during his retirement years. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Sabetha. On January 7, 1989, he married Kathryn Nesbitt-Kendall and was blessed with another family. Kathryn's children are her two daughters, Sharyn Hanni (Roger) of Bern, Kansas, and Sue Schuette (Darrell) of Sabetha, Kansas, and son, Doug Nesbitt (Betty) who preceded Bob in death. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Melba; his brothers Don Emert and Marion Emert; and his sister, Donna Olander. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, of the home; his son, Robert Emert (Susan) of Gravois Mills, Missouri ; his daughter, Deborah Sutton (Max); step-daughters, Sharyn Hanni and Sue Schuette; daugther-in-law, Betty Nesbitt of Moundridge, Kansas; brothers, Dale Emert, Harold Emert, and Darryl Emert all of Sabetha, Kansas; one sister, Lucile Matthes of Lincoln, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 7, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 on Sunday evening at the Popkess Mortuary. Interment will take place at the Sabetha Cemetery.
