Read More	In Memory of Robert Lee Hartford August 21, 1935 ~ February 22, 2017 Robert Lee "Bob" Hartford, 81, of Loretto, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, Nebraska, He was born on August 21, 1935, the son of Harrison Eresta and Mable (Fitzsimmons) Hartford, at Primrose, Nebraska. Bob attended school in Primrose until his family moved to Albion. He graduated from Albion Public School in1952. He moved to Kansas where he worked on the Turnpike. After his father became ill, he moved back to Nebraska to help on the farm. On March 22, 1958 Bob was united in marriage to Ruthie Elaine Landen at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, Nebraska. The couple resided in Albion where to this union five daughters were born: Kimberlie, Susan, Roberta, Amber, and Amy. In 1980, they moved to Loretto, to the home he built for his family. Bob worked with heavy machinery doing dirt work all of his adult life. He worked for Bill Buettner, and later started his own company, Hartford Construction. Bob eventually went on to work for the Boone County Road Department where he stayed until retirement at the age of 75. He was involved in many trades including welding; he became a certified welder to work on bridges. He also invented many of his own tools to make his work more efficient. Bob always said that “People might tell you that something is not possible, but it’s always possible, and it’s usually not that big of a deal.” He started learning about computers and he has been tearing apart and rebuilding them since the early 90’s. He started his small business, Moonlight Computers, where he repaired computers for customers in the surrounding area. Bob was a member and usher at the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. He served as a Volunteer Firefighter for the Albion Fire Department and on the Boone County Fair Board. He was also a member of the Jaycees and would help prepare the racetrack in Albion for races on Friday nights and helped to rebuild the grandstands there. For several years, Bob raised dairy goats, and served as an officer for various Dairy Goat Associations. He was an avid Husker fan, loved old cars, and loved being a jokester. He enjoyed gardening, mechanics and mostly spending time with his family. Bob is survived by: his wife Ruth; son-in-law, Lonnie Smith; daughters, Susan (Rob) Stevenson, Roberta (Merlyn) Jacobson, Amber Hartford, and Amy (Chad) Lingel; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Taylor and Darlene (Andy) Schick; brother, Tom (Donna) Hartford; brother-in-law Robert Landen; sisters-in-law, Korrine Bailey, Gretchen Landen and Nancy Landen; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by: parents; his precious daughter, Kimberlie Smith; sisters, Irene (Stanley) Loeffler, Mildred (Bill) Douty, Dorothy (Don) Ostendorf; brother, Bill Hartford; parents-in-law, Walter and Iva Landen; sisters-in-law: Patricia (Bud) Goad, Marion Landen, Colleen Landen; brothers-in-law: Jack Landen and Leland Landen. Funeral services on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, Nebraska. Interment in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
