Read More	(Thanks to contributor #46814593) OBIT 27 May 1943 , Custer County Chief Robert Lee Chadd was born in Vigo, Indiana, on October 31, 1866 and departed this life at the Hasting State Hospital on May 18, 1943, having attaned the age of 76 yrs. and 6 months, 18 days. Robert attended the public school in his immediat vicinity and grew to manhood, he left his native state3 and came to York County where he lived until 1900 when he came to Callaway, where he bought and operated a dray line for several years. After he disposed of his business, he found employment at the grain elevator. On July 19, 1903, he was wedded to Carrie Eunice Shoephelt in Broken Bow. To this union were born 2 sons, and 2 daughters. After his marriage, he and his companion moved onto a farmstead 1-1/2 miles northeast of Callaway where they lived 10 years when they relocated and lived on a small acreage on the outskirts of Callaway where they made their home for 13 years. In 1928, he suffered the loss of his companion by death. Mr. Chadd was for many years an officer of the Modern Woodmen of America Lodge and had many friends. He leaves to mourn his passing 2 sons, Erval of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Dorlan of Callaway; 2 daughters, Evab Clizbe of Superior, Wisconsin and Alcidean Pray of Lincoln; 7 grandchildren, 1 sister, Ettie Koons of Decatur, ILL, may other relatives and a large host of friends. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 21 at the Callaway Evangelical Church in charge of Rev. H. R. Knosp. A mixed quartet composed of Miss Susie Cox, Mrs. H. R. Knosp, Clarence and Glenn Knosp, accompanied by Howard Kolbo at the paino sang. Pallbearers were Willam Lauridsen, Ed Frederick, Fred Payton, Oscar Vincent, Albert Wise and Clark Smith. Interment was made in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
