Bob graduated from Nelson High School in 1939. November 23, 1942, he was united in marriage to Lois I. Willett of Bostwick. Two sons were born to this union, Sammy Lee on July 12, 1943, and Stephen Lynn on October 11, 1949. Bob was on active duty in the Navy during WW II, December 1943 to December 1945, in the submarine division. He and his family have lived and worked in Nelson, Superior, California and Lincoln. Bob and Lois have made Lincoln their home since 1955. Bob worked for Lincoln Public Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1986. With his health failing, Bob was a resident of the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island from January 1989 until his death. God called their eldest son, Sammy Lee, home on July 10, 1955, the victim of a tragic auto accident near Superior. Survivors include his wife, Lois, retired from Lincoln Public Schools and resides in Lincoln; one son, Stephen and his wife, Deborah, of Lincoln. Stephen is an Assistant Pressroom Foreman at American Signature. He is also survived by a grandson, Christopher John, age 10; a granddaughter, Suzanne Lynn, age 15; two sisters, Helen Miller of Hastings and Betty Schleif and her husband, Kelly, of Nelson; seven nephews, Mike Peery of Seward, Ron Peery and Carl Peery, both of Lincoln, Tom Schleif of Osceola, Gary Papenhagen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dean Papenhagen of Hastings and Joe Peery of Minot, South Dakota; four nieces Dixie Horn and Robin Carel, both of Lincoln, Janet Glouka of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Patti Carlson of Davey, Nebraska; great nephews and great nieces and special friends, Shilene and Wayne Kendal and families, Ann and Ken Pirnie and family, Sam and Giner Willett and families, Bud and Vera Dye and Bev and Gale Brittenham. In addition to his son, Sammy Lee, his parents, Chauncey and Verna Lee Peery, and brothers, Max and Lawrence, preceded him in death.
