Read More	Obituary taken from The National Road Traveler, Cambridge City, Indiana, issue dated October 2, 1947 Robert Marlatt Killed In Auto Accident Robert Marlatt, 38 year old Hagerstown father, was killed instantly Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his auto on an Indiana 38 curve near Hagerstown. Charles Shelton, 45 years old, also of Hagerstown and riding with Marlatt, miraculously escaped serious injury as the auto flipped over several times. Charles received only slight scratches. Marlatt was thrown from the car but Shelton was pinned in. Coronor Henry F. Unser, who went to the accident scene with Sheriff Sperling, said Marlatt died of a skull fracture. Marlatt, former operator of a frozen food locker in Hagerstown and also former owner of Kinjockity Farm on Road 1, between Hagerstown and Cambridge City, was reported returning home from Richmond. The accident occurred near the Hartley Hills Country Club Road. The accident victim's survivors include the widow, Carolyn; two daughters, Margot and Roberta, and one son, John Robert all at home; the mother, Mrs. Opha Marlatt of Hagerstown; five sisters, Mrs. John Woolard of Cambridge City, Mrs. Lester Brooks of Hamilton, Ohio; Mrs. Gene Brown and Miss Maralee Marlatt, both of Hagerstown, and Miss Mildred Marlatt of Calif.; and three brothers, Horace, Howard and Herman, all of Hagerstwon. Funeral services will be held at the Gray Funeral Home in Hagerstown. Rev. H. H. Short will officate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
