Description	:	Boone County Democrat October 25, 1907 Robert Marshall, a former well known resident of this city, died in Mercy hospital in Des Moines Thursday morning, Oct. 17th, after a short illness with heart trouble. He had been making his home in Enterprise for the past few years where he was engaged in mining. The remains were brought to Boone Friday evening and taken to the Jayne undertaking parlors where they were prepared for burial. Read More	Boone County Democrat October 25, 1907 Robert Marshall, a former well known resident of this city, died in Mercy hospital in Des Moines Thursday morning, Oct. 17th, after a short illness with heart trouble. He had been making his home in Enterprise for the past few years where he was engaged in mining. The remains were brought to Boone Friday evening and taken to the Jayne undertaking parlors where they were prepared for burial. Saturday the body was removed to the home of his sister, Mrs. William Benson, 203 W. Fifth street from where the funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. George Heaps and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. Burial in Linwood cemetery. He was born in Ohio, February 29, 1869 (sic-either wrong date or year; 1868 was the leap year) and was in his 38th year at the time of his death. He came with his family to Boone in 1885 and for many years was engaged in the coal mining business with his father here. After the death of his father who was killed in his mine several years ago, he went to Enterprise and engaged in the same business. He leaves a wife and five children, John, Ruth, Robert, Harold and Agnes, and five sisters and two brothers to mourn his death and to whom is extended the earnest sympathy of a wide circle of friends. Three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Thurner of Chicago, Mrs. Magnus Rooney and Miss Hazel Marshall, of Dubuque and one brother, Joe R. Marshall of North Yakima, Washington, were here to attend the funeral. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some family databases have erroneously confused him with another of this name, and indicate his parents were George Marshall and Lydia Margaret Pendroy; and this man's wife was Sophronia Mae McCrosky ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Iowa state census for 1885 lists the whole family.
