Description	:	He was the son of David Moore, III (1795-1858) and Agnes Henrietta "Nancy" Helms Moore (1797-1864). He married Catherine Roxana "Roxie" Secrest (Moore) 9 Oct 1868. Moore, was killed 8/14/1864 when he and Robert were fighting in the Battle of Bermuda Hundreds near Petersburg, VA. Robert carried his brother William's body safely into Confederate territory and when Robert returned to battle he was captured by the Union Army and spent 4 months in a prison camp near Long Island, NY. I believe the prison camp was Hart's Island, NY. Robert was held until he renounced his loyalty to the Confederate States of America. Then he was freed to return to his home in Wesley Chapel, Union County, N. C. ===========================================================The family was known as "the Moores of Twelve Mile Creek". The Moore home place was 1/4 mile past the intersection of Potter Road and Waxhaw-Indian Trail Road at the intersection of Beulah Church Rd. , Weddington, Wesley Chapel Township, Union County, N. C. Addison Crossing subdivision now sits on the former home place land. In the book "The Heritage of Union County, North Carolina: 1842-1992" by Virginia A. S. Kendrick on page 321 the article titled "The Moores of Twelve Mile Creek" details Robert Murchison Moore's family history. The 1850 US Census shows David Moore III (1795-1858) and his wife Agnes Helms (1798-1864) with the following children in their home: Andrew Jackson 18, Jane 21, Merion 16, Abigail 14, Murchison 12, and William P. 8 years. 3 older children Clarinda Moore Reid (born 1818), James (born 1820) F-A-G #24525192, & Milton (born 1822, burial unknown) were married and lived in their own homes. ===========================================================Thanks to DSM for creating this memorial and transferring it to me. =========================================================== "Friday, July 11, 1890, THE CHARLOTTE DEMOCRAT (Mecklenburg County, NC) -Died in Union county, Sandy Ridge township, on the 28th ult., Mr. R.
