R. Chase, following a lengthy illness. He was 68 years of age and is survived by three brothers, a sister, and his aged mother. OBITUARY Robert O. Engelman was born November 16, 1855 in East Freisland department of Hanover, German. He was, therefore, 68 years of age at the time of his death. He and his brother Julius, who died in 1912, came to America in 1882. They lived, for a time, in Washington, Illinois. The next year his brothers, George, John and Wert, and sister, Gerty, now Mrs. Chase, came to their adopted land. In 1885, the deceased came to Dakota Territory and lived, for a time, at Salem. In 1889 he came to Hand county and took up a homestead, in Logan Township, which he held until his death. In the year he came to this county his father, who died in 1894, and mother came from Germany to join the family. The mother, who is still living is today 96 years of age-a sad birthday for a mother. Robert Engelman was confirmed in the Lutheran church of his native country and as much as possible was in touch with the Lutheran church in America. His last hours were peaceful ones and he was conscious to the end. Those who cared for him in his long, last illness testify that he was notably patient and uncomplaining. This is a fine tribute to his fortitude and consideration for others. Funeral services were held Sunday, Rev. T.J. Simons officiating, and interment made in the G.A.R. cemetery.
