McDorman, 68, well known Holyoke man, passed away at about 2:45 a.m. Friday, April 30, at the local hospital. A retired farmer, Mr. McDorman had lived in this community for 56 years. Mr. McDorman had been in failing health for some time. He underwent surgery a few months ago in Rochester, Minnesota, and then came home and was quite active for several weeks. He entered the hospital here on April 21. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, at the Holyoke Methodist church, with Rev. H. Ward Barter officiating. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The youngest of three children of Robert and Etta McDorman, Robert Orlando McDorman was born August 14, 1896, at Bloomfield, Nebraska. In 1908, when he was 12 years of age, he moved to this community with his parents and resided here the rest of his life. On September 29, 1919, he was united in marriage to Lavina Roush of Holyoke. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. Mrs. McDorman passed away on December 29, 1949. Mr. McDorman was a member of the Holyoke Methodist church, having joined that congregation on October 15, 1944. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 90 of Holyoke for 40 years, the Legion Past Commanders' club, Masonic Lodge No. 81, AF&AM, Holyoke, and the local chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. He served on the high school board for 12 years, on the grade school board for 16 years, was a member of the Holyoke Co-Op association board for a number of years, and served on numerous other boards and committees. Survivors include two sons, Dale F., Holyoke, and Robert L., Torrance, California; one daughter, Miss Lois N. McDorman, West Los Angeles, California; one brother, John McDorman, Stockton, California; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Pugh, Denver; four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
