Robert Gibson and Mrs. Sarah Gibson celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary Thursday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Morris Boehme, near Lake Cicott. Mr. Gibson is 80 years old and was at the mature age of 25 when joined in marriage to Sarah Tam, who was 22. The marriage occurred on June 4th, 1838, in Jefferson township, west of Lake Cicott, and the aged couple have lived on a farm in that neighborhood nearly all their married life. In 1838, at the time of this marriage, Logansport was a mere village and the population of Jefferson township was limited to a few pioneer families. They started poor in life, but full of hope and courage. They are the parents of fifteen children, seven of whom, two sons and five daughters, survive. Of their progeny there are CG grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. All these descendants are worthy people and have lived upright industrious lives. Mr. Gibson's first vote was cast for Andrew Jackson for president, in 1S32, and he has voted for every Democratic presidential candidate since then. He is a great reader and an entertaining talker. In his religious views he holds to the Dunkard faith and frequently preaches for that denomination. He has been a constant reader of the Pharos since it was established in 1844. At yesterday's celebration he made a short talk, in which he told some of the experiences of his long life, going back to the days when be and Mrs. Gibson were young and sprightly. He referred to the fact that all the great inventions, except the use of steam, that have done so much towards the advancement of the world, were made since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Gibson live a. retired life now in a cozy little home in Burnettsville. Their wants are few and they are contented and happy. Mr. Gibson is a native of Blount county, Tenn., and came to Cass county in 1832. Mrs. Gibson was born in Delaware.
