Description	:	Robert Paul Jaeggi went to his heavenly home on November 20, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Robert was born March 19, 1927 to Walter and Ida (Oppliger) Jaeggi in Columbus NE. He lived and attended school in Columbus. Robert served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947, stationed in Italy, then returned to Kramer High School to finish his senior year and graduate in 1947. Robert was married to Clarabelle Oades in 1954. They had three sons. Clarabelle passed away in 1976. In 1987, he married Tanya Ellis. Robert worked for Cornhusker Public Power District for 42 years. He started as Store Keeper and was in charge of Purchasing & Stores at the time of his retirement in 1989. After retiring he enjoyed a part-time job for many years of driving UPS trucks for Performance Paint & Body and later transporting cars for local car dealerships. He loved to drive and look over the countryside enjoying God’s beautiful scenery. Trinity Lutheran was Robert’s church home from birth. His parents were starting charter members of Trinity. He served on the council and also was head usher for many years. Robert was a member of the American legion and Lifetime member of the VFW. He took pride in his service to his country and had high respect for all Veterans. Robert was the last living charter member of the Columbus Sertoma Club. He was very proud of his involvement in this service club and their contribution to the community. In early years he coached the Sertoma basketball team and for several years, he was in charge of their Adopt a Highway program. Robert participated in the flag program helping to put out flags all over the city on special days. He also served on the board of the Columbus Alumni Association for many years. Robert is survived by: Wife: Tanya Jaeggi of Columbus, NE Three step sons, Donald Douglas of Grimsley, TN Dale (Jennifer) Ellis of Omaha, NE David (Deb) Ellis of David City, NE Grandson: Robert Paul Jaeggi of CT Nine step-grandchildren Five step great-grandchildren Sister: Elfrieda Jenkinson of Columbus, NE Brother-in-law: Merlyn (Lucile) Rader of Trumbull, NE Many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by: Grandparents Parents: Walter & Ida Jaeggi Wife: Clarabelle Jaeggi Three sons: Greggory, Jeffory and Thomas Jaeggi.
