The body will lie in state at Gass-Haney Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday, then at church from 1 to 2 p.m. A member of a pioneer Nebraska family, Mr. Jaeggi was the son of Adolph and Constance Jaeggi, who came from Switzerland. His father homesteaded in this area. Walter was born at Columbus Jan. 23, 1887 and after receiving his early education here, he attended Nebraska Agricultural College in Lincoln. Married to Ida Oppliger at her rural home, he farmed east of Columbus for several years. After moving to Columbus he was a bulk carrier for Standard Oil,, then was employed by Anderson Greenhouse and later by the city park board at Pawnee Park for 17 years. He retired 10 years ago. Mr. Jaeggi was a former president of the Sons of Hermann Lodge; a member of Swiss Maennerchor and a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Edna) Hage of Huntington, N.Y., Mrs. Lloyd (Elfrieda) Jenkinson of Monroe, Mrs. Rollo (Helen) Wiebold of Columbus, Mrs. Donald (Doris) Godard of Fountain Valley, Calif.; two sons, Walter Jr., and Robert of Columbus; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul and Ernest Jaeggi, and a brother in infancy. The family requests that memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Memorial Fund. ----------------- The Columbus Telegram, January 12, 1970 JAEGGI--Jaeggi Rites - Funeral services for Walter C. Jaeggi Sr., were Saturday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church and Columbus Cemetery with the Rev. H. M. Rathkamp officiating. Pallbearers were Jacob Glub, Carl Hoge, William Gersip, Ernest Luchsinger, Martin Stenger, Fred Matthew with Rudy Stoll serving as honorary pallbearer. Gass-Haney Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
