Robert was born, the oldest of four siblings, on December 10, 1938, in Willows, California, to Robert Ralph Greer, Sr., and Eva Jane Hollis. He attended Willows public schools and later served in the U.S. Army, with a tour in Europe. After returning home, he married Clara Regina Rost on March 16, 1965, in Shasta, California, and together they raised four boys in Chico, California, while Robert worked at the Diamond International lumber mill. With a quiet, soft-spoken demeanor, Robert always took time to meditate, enjoy a cup of coffee, and visit used bookstores when he could. He did not ask for much or need much, but he was an enduring source of kindness, appreciation, and love, and he will be missed greatly. Robert is survived by his wife, Regina Greer, their four boys, Tim Lane, Tony Greer, Dan Greer, and Michael Greer, as well as his youngest brother, Bill Greer. He was preceded in death by his brother Darrell Greer and sister Barbara Ann Greer-Reeves. An informal graveside memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, October 3, at 11:00 a.m., at Willows Cemetery (south lawn), where Robert’s ashes will be interred. Those who knew Robert are invited to attend and share in his remembrance with photos, stories, or just being present. Folks are encouraged to observe current safety guidelines for outdoor gatherings.
