Read More	Thanks to contributor #46873059; Robert Raymond Burn was born April 17, 1892, and passed from this life in Lincoln June 13, 1944, after an illness extending over a short period and hospitalization only since the second day previous. Mr. Burn was a graduate of the Saint Edward High School in 1908, and of the Nebraska State University in 1914. He devoted his business life to Soil Conservation practices and came to Nelson from Lincoln in November, 1942, to be at the head of that work here, having lived in Lincoln the seven previous years. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and superintendent of the Sunday School at St. Edward. Here in Nelson he taught a Sunday School class of the young married folk. He was married to Fern Vanderhoof of St. Edward on December 5, 1914. Two daughters, Fay Bonnell, now Mrs. Chris H. Sanders, and Natalie V. and the wife are left to mourn his early going. Services were held in Lincoln on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Roper & Sons, and a prayer service at 3 p.m. at the grve (sic) in Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward by Rev. W. Byrd Ray assisted by Rev. Paul Neel, local Presbyterian minister. The Masons also held a service at the grave. Rev. R.A. McConnell, pastor of the Plymouth Cogregational (sic) Church in Lincoln, where Mr. Burn still held his membership, officiating at the services there had this to say of him "Mr. Burn was ruggedly honest, faithful and valuable in his work, highly regarded to those who worked with him. He was fond of children and they lived him. His home was his main interest in life, the center of his devotion as a loving husband and father. He was a devoted and faithful Christian, always in church when it was possible, a man who translated his Christian faith into Christian living. His life was lived worthily and nobly and death came unexpectedly and suddenly without long pain or illness. His life is not gone; he lives in the garden of God, in the home of many mansions, loved and used by the God and Father of us all." Those going from here to the funeral at St. Edward were C.R. Imler, Earl Greenwood, B.L. Stahl, L.L. Frantz, Rev. W. Byrd Ray, Wm. Walkinshaw (Superior), Winona Batie, A.R. Kuhlman, Mrs. L.R. Lacey, D.V. Spohn (Superior), Ray Lowery (Davenport), C.E. Wehrman and M.L. Vaughn. The last four also went to Lincoln, and Rev. Powell, in Lincoln at the time, also attended the service. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, June 22, 1944; pg. 1
