He was born April 11, 1918, at Arma, Kansas, to Joe and Nancy Eva (Fox) Lessen. He was raised in Arma and graduated from Arma High School. Read More	******************** Published Pittsburg, KS - July 24, 2002 ARMA, KS -- Robert "Bob" Lessen, 84, Arma, Kansas, died at 5:27 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002, at Hospital District No. 1 of Crawford County at Girard, Kansas. He was born April 11, 1918, at Arma, Kansas, to Joe and Nancy Eva (Fox) Lessen. He was raised in Arma and graduated from Arma High School. He later attended the University of Kansas on a baseball scholarship. He attended Pittsburg State University and received a degree in business administration. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the Army Air Corps with the Flying Tigers as a B-24 gunner in Europe and China. On Aug. 26, 1950, he married Betty J. Coghill at Pittsburg. She preceded him in death Feb. 9, 1982. He owned Fox Insurance Agency, and worked as an insurance agent. He was a member of Arma United Methodist Church; Arma Masonic Lodge No. 408; Arma Eagles; a life member and past commander of the Lon Helm Post No. 182 American Legion at Arma; original board member of Elm Acres; and Republican Precinct Committee-man. He was a former councilman and mayor of Arma, KS. Survivors include two sons, Jody Lessen of Germantown, MD, and Rob Lessen of Arma, KS; one sister, Mildred Leamon of Arma, KS; his companion, Minnie Levra of Arma, KS; and two grandsons. Funeral services will be at Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas, with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kansas. The Fort Riley Burial Detail Company will conduct military graveside services. Arrangements are under the direction of Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, KS. ********************
