Father Sterrett was born in Butler county, Pennsylvania, February 12th, 1816, and his age was 78 years, 9 months and 5 days. He was married to Miss Martha Elrod, February 12, 1835, in West Moreland county, Pennsylvania. He lived for a number of years at McKeesport, Pa., then moved to Antioch, Ohio, and from there to Lafayette, Indiana. Read More	DIED--Saturday morning, November 17th, 1894, at Lincoln, Nebraska, Robert Sterrett. Father Sterrett was born in Butler county, Pennsylvania, February 12th, 1816, and his age was 78 years, 9 months and 5 days. He was married to Miss Martha Elrod, February 12, 1835, in West Moreland county, Pennsylvania. He lived for a number of years at McKeesport, Pa., then moved to Antioch, Ohio, and from there to Lafayette, Indiana. After a few years, he removed from Indiana to Missouri, where he remained until the opening of the War of the Rebellion. When the call came for volunteers, his sons enlisted in the Union Army, and he, because of his loyalty to the nation, was driven from his home by the rebel sympathizers. He left his home and property, most of which he lost, and settled in Iowa, and soon after enlisted in the 3rd Iowa cavalry, serving his country for about two years. While in the service, he contracted a disease from which he never recovered and which was the cause of his death. About eight years ago, he settled in West Lincoln, where he died. When about 20 years of age, Father Sterrett was converted and united with the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, holding fast the profession of his faith to the end. His neighbors at Lincoln testified to his excellence of character, declaring, "No man has died in this neighborhood who was so universally respected as Father Sterrett." He was a good husband and father, a kind friend and exemplary Christian, a true citizen and a patriotic soldier. The funeral was held in West Lincoln, Sunday, and the remains were brought to Fairmont for burial, Rev. A.A. Randall conducting the services at the grave. The headstone lists year of death as 1895, which is incorrect. The year of death is 1894.
