Description	:	ROBERT V. "Bob" SHEFFIELD passed away peacefully on July 21, 2007 at Haven Hospice of Chiefland. He lived 80 wonderful years. Born March 17, 1927 in St. Petersburg, he moved to Gainesville at the age of 14 and remained in this area the rest of his life. After attending Gainesville High he joined the Navy. Then he met Doris, who would be his loving wife for 54 years before preceding him in death. In over 50 years as a union pipefitter he worked on many well known projects across the country. After attending Gainesville High he joined the Navy. Then he met Doris, who would be his loving wife for 54 years before preceding him in death. In over 50 years as a union pipefitter he worked on many well known projects across the country. As an accomplished pilot his lifelong interest included all types of aircraft. He was one of the original builders of the Flying 10 Airport in Archer. His appetite for life involved many hours in his workshop, travel, music, ham radio and much more. He is survived by his adoring wife, Betty Sheffield of Dowling Park; his son, Dana Sheffield of Fanning Springs; his daughter, Carla Sheffield of Green Cove Springs; granddaughters, Amanda and Wendy Bernal; great-grandson, Van Robert Horton; brothers, Malcolm and David Sheffield; and sisters, Elaine Marcy and Elinore Sheffield. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 26, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Burial will follow at Memorial Park East. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 25, 2007, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Haven Hospice Chiefland, 311 NE 9th St. Chiefland, FL 32626.
