Description	:	Robert Vernon Walters, 57, retired maintenance employee for the state highway department, died early this morning at his home at 2300 National. Mr. Walters was born Nov. 24, 1901 in Great Falls, the son of James M. and Mattie Lee Walters. He attended schools in Great Falls, and on Nov. 29, 1923, he was married to the former Mildred Zigan. He was employed by the city... Read More	Robert Vernon Walters, 57, retired maintenance employee for the state highway department, died early this morning at his home at 2300 National. Mr. Walters was born Nov. 24, 1901 in Great Falls, the son of James M. and Mattie Lee Walters. He attended schools in Great Falls, and on Nov. 29, 1923, he was married to the former Mildred Zigan. He continued to reside in Great Falls until 1932, when he began operation of a general merchandise store at Jefferson City. In 1941, he worked in Anaconda, moving to Helena a year later. He was employed by the city bus lines for six years and in 1948, began work for the highway department. He retired in 1957. Mr. Walters was a member of Helena Aerie No. 16, F.O.E., and Teamsters and Chauffeurs Union No. 666. Surviving besides his widow are two daughters, Mrs. Roy Rule and Mrs. John Spurzem, both of Helena, four grandchildren, Rebecca and Robert Rule and John and Michael Spurzem, two sisters, Grace Lee and Jean Walters, both of California, a brother, Russell Walters, a missionary in Thailand, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Retz Chapel with the Rev. Nels H. Norbeck of St. John's Luthern Church officiating. Pallbearers will be William Barker, Richard Brown, Guy Waddell, Walter Holland, Warren Holsclaw and Grant Bingham. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
