Description	:	WALLACE, Robert Waddell March 7, 1924 - August 22, 2019 Mr. Robert Wallace of Nanton, AB passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the South Health Campus on August 22, 2019 at the age of 95 years. Bob was born to parents Boyd and Mary Wallace on March 7, 1924 in Big Timber, Montana, USA. He was raised on his parent's ranch in Montana until age 4, then on their ranch west of Nanton. Read More	WALLACE, Robert Waddell March 7, 1924 - August 22, 2019 Mr. Robert Wallace of Nanton, AB passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the South Health Campus on August 22, 2019 at the age of 95 years. Bob was born to parents Boyd and Mary Wallace on March 7, 1924 in Big Timber, Montana, USA. He was raised on his parent's ranch in Montana until age 4, then on their ranch west of Nanton. He was conscripted to WWII at age 18 and trained in the Royal Canadian Navy (Telegrapher). He crossed the Atlantic eight times during his three-year service on convoy C-7 HMCS Hawkesbury corvette escort ship. He also signed up to continue fighting Japan, but shortly after, WWII had ended. Bob returned home to ranch, married Doris and raised his family on the Bridges Place, 12 miles west of Nanton. He retired in 2001. He was a lifetime member of the Nanton Masonic Lodge and the oldest surviving veteran member of the Nanton Legion Branch #80. Bob's cattle were his passion and memories of his Navy years were always in his heart. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Doris (nee Cooke) whom he married in 1950; daughter Margaret (Rod Olson); son David (Lil) Wallace, son Jim Wallace as well as grandchildren Greg, Carrie McKenzie, Daniel Hitchner, Calvin, Erik and Grant Wallace; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Boyd & Mary Wallace, baby boy Timothy Wallace, siblings John Wallace, Harriet Wingert (Pence), Jean Greig and nephews Roy Pence, Jan Greig and Wally Pence. Memorial Donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #80, P.O. Box 299, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0. Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Nanton United Church.
