Born January 1, 1936, in Uniontown, he was the son of the late Samuel Ward and Verna A. (Friend) Friend. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Samuel William Friend and one sister, Katherine Dennis. (Friend) Friend. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Samuel William Friend and one sister, Katherine Dennis. He is survived by one brother, of Friendsville; four sisters, 0ne from Uniontown; a sister from Hollidaysburg, PA; a sister from Palm Bay, FL; a sister from East Freedom, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Avenue, Friendsville, on Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating. Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by area veteran's service organizations. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
