Rod passed away Sunday, February 17th, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Survivors include his wife Barb; 2 children: Alisha Murphy (Tim) of Dunlap and Michael Block (Barb) of Denison; 4 siblings: Diane Houston (David) of Omaha, NE, Charlene Yaple (Ralph) of Lenexa, KS, Dean Block of Dunlap and Sherry Baldwin ( Larry) of Neola; 2 brothers-in-law: Larry Eggers of Omaha and David Grindle of Soldier. The Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap is in charge of the arrangements where visitation will start at 3 pm, Thursday, February 21st, with the family present to greet friends from 4 to 8 pm. --- Fouts Funeral Home ~ Dunlap, Iowa Rodney Michael Block was born on January 14, 1954, to Herman and Marie (Kloewer) Block in Manning, Iowa. He was raised near Dunlap and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Dunlap Public School. Rod worked at several places including: for Larry Kimmen at the Fina Station, Burlington Northern Railroad, for Richard and Denny Grote, and Farmland in Denison (for 28 years). Rod married Barb Hamblen on April 24, 1976, in Denison, Iowa. The couple lived in Dunlap most of their married life. Rod enjoyed golfing, playing cards, socializing, farming, and playing Keno. Most importantly Rod enjoyed spending time with his family and especially playing with his grandkids. Rod also enjoyed spending time on the back deck, grilling and he especially enjoyed the 4th of July. Rod died Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 65 years, one month, and three days. Rod was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Perry Smith; three siblings, Tom (Peggy) Block, Jane Eggers and Marsha Grindle; and two nieces, Whitney Anne Cloud and Peggy Arlene Block. He is survived by his wife, Barb Block of Dunlap, Iowa; two children, Alisha (Tim) Murphy of Dunlap, Iowa, Michael (Barb) Block of Denison, Iowa; five plus grandchildren; four siblings, Diane (David) Houston of Omaha, Nebraska; Charlene (Ralph) Yaple of Lenexa, Kansas; Dean Block of Dunlap, Iowa, Sherry (Larry) Baldwin of Neola, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Larry Eggers of Omaha, Nebraska and David Grindle of Soldier, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. ---
