Description	:	Tragedy struck Tipton Junior College on October 12, 1933, when Roger Morton, a college sophomore, drowned at the Cedar Valley quarry. Roger, the son of J. Earl and LaVerna Morton, was attending a Tipton Junior College picnic party at the quarry. He accidentally stepped off the rock bluff and into the water. Two of his classmates, Lester Hipple and Richard White, attempted to rescue him, but in the darkness could not locate their classmate.
