He was a Pentecostal minister for 48 years, a missionary and teacher to Indonesia and India, and a pastor and elder of the Apostolic faith. He was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Terre Haute to John Lee Berry and Helen Jeffers Berry. He was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Terre Haute to John Lee Berry and Helen Jeffers Berry. Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Chilton Berry; three daughters, Sharon and Tom Johnson of Colorado Springs, Rogetta McNeal of Terre Haute and Pamela and Cliff Garber of Sidney, Ohio; six grandchildren, Roger Garber, Andrew Johnson, Ronetta Marhoover, Melissa Johnson, Michael Garber and Beth Garber; eight great-grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Kelly Garber, Savannah Garber, Megan Garber, Emily Marhoover, Madison Garber and Derrick Johnson; two sisters, Velda Marie Hall and Norma Kennedy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a retired 12-year Marine veteran of World War II, discharged in 1953, with honor and medical release. He was known and loved around the world by all who knew him. His outstanding humor, even in the crisis of his illness, was shared by all. His faith and belief in God, and the witness of his faith, was expressed by his life. A crossing to heaven’s glory with loved ones was his final journey. Welcome home, my son, the Lord says unto him. Entering into the joy of the Lord. The family wishes to extend a special tribute to all the caregivers from Intrepid, Meadows Home Health Care and Area 7. Another special thanks to the beloved nurses, Diane, Wanel, Tammy and Lanna, and to Everet who ministered kindness and care to a beloved father and husband. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Gospel Tabernacle, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Burial is in Pleasant View Cemetery in Tecumseh. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Pentecostal Church Missions Fund. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
