Description	:	Roger L. Hochstetler, 85, of Arvada, Colorado passed away October 22, 2014. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the First Mennonite Church, Denver, Colorado. Roger was born February 16, 1929, the son of Earl and Mary (Krabill) Hochstetler in Kalona, Iowa. Roger loved adventure, sports and competition. Read More	Roger L. Hochstetler, 85, of Arvada, Colorado passed away October 22, 2014. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the First Mennonite Church, Denver, Colorado. Roger was born February 16, 1929, the son of Earl and Mary (Krabill) Hochstetler in Kalona, Iowa. Roger loved adventure, sports and competition. His first adventure away from home was high school at Hesston Academy in Hesston, KS. He went to Germany and the Netherlands where he spent three years building homes for refugees with an organization called PAX whose members became lifelong friends. When he returned to Iowa, he met his wife of nearly 60 years, Glennis Hershberger. They married November 27, 1954. Roger co-owned the Wellman lumber yard in Wellman, Iowa which he then sold to go to college in the mid 1960s. He attended the University of Iowa to become a minister in the Mennonite church. He graduated from Goshen College in Goshen, IN and pastored Mennonite churches in Fort Wayne, IN, Lakewood, CA, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Metamore, IL and was a transitional pastor in Albuquerque, NM, Greeley, CO, and Littleton, CO. He had a compassionate heart; a great sense of humor, and a willingness to participate; which translated into a lot of house guests. Roger loved being with people, his motto was "come on over!". He lived fully, had an inquistive mind led by a progressive spirit. He loved Colorado, the mountains, and the perfect weather. He spent time on the golf course, fishing, attending Rockies games, and traveling. He was prceded in death by his parents, grandson Seth MacKay, granddaughter Karine Thurnau-Fair, brother Don Hochstetler, brother John Miller and nephew Jerome Hochstetler.
