He was born on March 8, 1916, in Wabash County to Gloe and Vera (Drollinger) Vrooman. He married Katherine Stouffer on Dec. 20, 1936. She died on Sept 28, 1991. Mr. Vrooman was a self-employed carpenter and farmer. He had lived in the Roann area for 31 years, and in Wabash the past four years. He lived in Sebring, Fla. the last 16 winters. He was a member of Wabash Friends Church and a former member of the Laketon Lions Club. Surviving are one son, Steven Vrooman, Frankfort; four daughters, Mrs. William (Marilyn) Moore, Vicksburg, Mich., Jane Burch, Fishers, Mrs. Dennis (Karen) Grumpp, Greenfield, and Mrs. Gary (Rosemary) Purdy, North Manchester, two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Lois) McCullough, Sarasota, Fla., and Mrs. Al (Marilou) Schairbaum, Granbury, Texas; one brother, Jim Vrooman, Sarasota, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wabash Friends Church. Pastor David Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Main Street Chapel. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash Friends Church Building Fund.
