Born Aug. 22, 1915, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Clyde and Mamie Copple Bush. He married Edna Vandemark on Feb. 20, 1943, in rural Mediapolis. Read More	The Burlington Hawkeye, March 20, 2002 Roland Bush Roland Marshall Bush, 86, of Yarmouth, died Monday afternoon, March 18, 2002, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Born Aug. 22, 1915, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Clyde and Mamie Copple Bush. He married Edna Vandemark on Feb. 20, 1943, in rural Mediapolis. Mr. Bush graduated from Ottumwa High School and Parsons College and did graduate work at the University of Iowa and Utah State University. He taught school at New Sharon before joining the Navy in January 1942, attended officer training school at Harvard University and served 21 months in the Pacific Theater of World War II. He returned in January 1946, and farmed until 1960, when he returned to teaching at Mediapolis. He retired in 1977, and spent the winter months in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He lived in Pharr, Texas, from 1994 to 2000, when he returned to Iowa. He was a member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Grove. He was a Mason and past master of Progress Lodge 226 in Mediapolis, a member of Davenport Consistory and Kaaba Shrine and past worthy patron of White Star Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Mediapolis. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Wunder of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Glenda Wlosinski of Lake Mary, Fla.; one son, David Bush of Yarmouth; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Naomi Thompson of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where a public Mason service will be at 6:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Bush will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Post of Mediapolis. A memorial has been established for Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children
