Thompson May 1, 1942. A graduate of Ottumwa High School and Parsons College, she taught over 30 years in McCallsburg, Agency and Ottumwa at Stuart and James schools. After retirement in 1979, she continued to substitute for many years. She was a 75-year member of East End Presbyterian Church having served as church organist, on deacon's board, an elder, a youth group leader, Sunday School teacher and the church guild. She was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, Ottumwa Chapter No. 112, serving as organist, Christina Court No. 3 Order of Amaranth, Wapello White Shrine No. 4, serving as organist, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, serving as board member and organist, Wapello County Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kappa, Ollepaw Chapter of American Business Women Association, O.B. Nelson Unit No. 3 of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary, Kings Daughters, charter member of the Organ Club of Ottumwa and Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Surviving is her husband; three daughters, Linda Robbins of Tuscon, Arizona, Evonne Mahaskey of Ottumwa and Patty Laible of Grand Junction, Colorado; a son, Ronnie Thompson of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren, Mark Miller of Tuscon, Arizona, John Miller of Carmel, Indiana, Diana Nottingham of Tuscon, Scott Mahaskey of Washington D.C., Brenda Moats of Kansas City, Missouri, Lara Feigitschvof Arvada, Colorado, Brad Laible of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Jason Laible of Las Vegas, Nevada, Carrie Cobler, Heather Van Engelenhoven and Katie Thompson, all of Ottumwa; 10 great-grandchildren, Tom and Amanda Miller, Bailey and Bennett Nottingham, Autumn Miller, Alley and Conner Laible, Megan and Josie Cobler and Lydia Van Engelenhoven. She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gerald, Roland and Charlie Bush; and a sister, Ruth Ripley. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the East End Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kate Stangl and Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Order of Eastern Star Service will be at 7 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Steve Wilkinson, Jimmy Rumans, Mike Graham, Mike Renfrew, Ed Miller, George Rumph, Ronnie Thompson and Bob Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Mark Miller, Brian Nottingham, Diana Nottingham, John Miller, Tig Miller, Scott Mahaskey, Brenda Moats, Chad Moats, Lara Feigitsch, Marc Feigitsch, Brad Laible, Jason Laible, Andrea Laible, Carrie Cobler, Brian Cobler, Heather Van Engelenhoven, Brian Van Engelenhoven and Katie Thompson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East End Prebyterian Church.
