DEATH TAKES A FINE MAN; R. T. ALLISON GONE. Prominent Farmer and Leader Was 61 Years of Age-The Services This Afternoon. Death claimed a fine outstanding father and public minded citizen of north Nemaha county at 2:00 Saturday morning in the person of R. T. Allison, 61 years, four months and 23 days of age. The funeral service is being held at his home in Nemaha township at 2:00 this afternoon, conducted by the Rev. S. A. Wysong, Presbyterian minister of Pawnee, and burial will be at the Pawnee cemetery. Mr. Allison's death was due to cancer. He had been ill since Christmas time and really not in the best of health for a year or so before that. The written word scarce conveys the nobility of Mr. Allison's character. It is perhaps best recorded in the minds of many friends. There was never a question as to his integrity. He was honest, kind to his family and thoughtful of them, and helpful in his community. He had purpose, too, as well as character, and the two combined to make him a leader of men. He was a member of the Nemaha township board; 12 years a member of the school board; Republican committeeman; member of corn hog committees; long a booster of road improvement and the leader for surfacing on the Allison road. He lived to realize the actual start of this improvement. The grader outfit began work near his home and his sons took him to the scene that he might see it. The preparation for surface is now half finished. The surface is to connect highway 63 and the Pawnee road. Mr. Allison did not live to reach another goal. He had hoped his life might extend to the fall election. Rollin Thomas Allison was a descendant of a Scotch family long in this country. His parents were M. H. and Emma Burger Allison and he was born to them on March 14, 1875, north of Seneca. He lived all of his life in that community. While a young man, a student of Pawnee City Academy, he made a profession of his faith and united with the Presbyterian church, in which he remained a member. He married Mabel Leonard on January 18, 1899 at the Leonard home near Pawnee and for nearly all of the years since their marriage they have lived at the present farm, 320 acres across the road from his late parents' land. Mrs. Allison and four children survive: Leslie, Lloyd and Nathan at home and Gertrude, who is Mrs. Dean Lair, living three miles to the north. There are three grandchildren. Marsh Allison, half a mile to the east, is a brother; Mattie Allison, a sister, has made her home with her brother. At the funeral today, songs will be "Rock of Ages," "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," and "Going Down the Valley." All pallbearers will be nephews: Leslie and Allison Leonard; Harry, Melvin, Lowell and Glen Allison. Mr. Allison was a member of the Knight of Pythias and Workman lodges. The K & P will have a grave service.
