Description	:	Roma Anna Katharine (Kastner) Ernst (1904 - 1988) Roma Anna Katharine Ernst, the daughter of Fred and Friederike Petersen Kastner, was born on April 4, 1904 on a farm near Kiron, Ia. She died Oct. 19, 1988 at the Denison Care Center, having attained the age of 84 years. Roma grew up on the family farm and attended a rural school, graduating from the Schleswig High School in the class of 1923. After graduation, she helped on the family farm. Read More	Roma Anna Katharine (Kastner) Ernst (1904 - 1988) Roma Anna Katharine Ernst, the daughter of Fred and Friederike Petersen Kastner, was born on April 4, 1904 on a farm near Kiron, Ia. She died Oct. 19, 1988 at the Denison Care Center, having attained the age of 84 years. Roma grew up on the family farm and attended a rural school, graduating from the Schleswig High School in the class of 1923. After graduation, she helped on the family farm. Roma was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church on Aug. 16, 1910 by Rev. William Frese, and confirmed at the Friedens Church in Schleswig on March 28, 1920 by Rev. W. R. Wetzeler. On June 28, 1928, Roma and Walter Ernst of Schleswig, were united in marriage at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grant Township, Ida County. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church until it was destroyed by a tornado. At this time, they transferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, of which she was a member at the time of her death. Roma taught Sunday School for several years at Trinity and was also a member of the Trinity Ladies Aid. They made their home on a farm near Schleswig, until moving to Schleswig in 1978. When her health failed, she entered the Denison Care Center in Denison seven and one-half years ago. In her healthful years, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. She and Walter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1978, with an open house for family and friends. Preceding Roma in death were her parents. Survivors include her husband Walter of Schleswig; one brother Irwin Kastner and his wife Erna of Kiron, also nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
