Description	:	Romaine Orth, 76, of Waverly, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at his residence of natural causes. Romaine was born May 7, 1942, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Leo and Mable (Arns) Orth. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Waverly High School. He would later earn his G.E.D. in 1990. On June 11, 1987, he was united in marriage to Sue Sowers at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly. Romaine was an active dairy farmer in both Illinois and Iowa until the 1990’s. Romaine was born May 7, 1942, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Leo and Mable (Arns) Orth. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Waverly High School. He would later earn his G.E.D. in 1990. On June 11, 1987, he was united in marriage to Sue Sowers at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly. Romaine was an active dairy farmer in both Illinois and Iowa until the 1990’s. He then worked at Featherlite in Nashua and Bremwood in Waverly. Romaine was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly, where he served in several capacities over the years. He was active with FFA, 4H and the Dairy Promoters. He enjoyed riding his white mule Boogieman with the local Trail Riders Club. He enjoyed working in his woods, woodworking, and spending time with his dog, Ike. Romaine is survived by his wife, Sue of Waverly, two daughters, Patti (Marvin) Homeister of Frederika, and Katie (Jeff Heineman) Reynolds of Marion, four sons, Joe (Leslie) Hagedorn of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shawn (Kathy) Hagedorn of Janesville, Dan (Cristi) Hagedorn of New Hartford and Jim (Rozie) Reynolds of Solon, 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, brothers, Ron (Darlys) Orth of Ames, Marvin (Catherine) Orth of Waverly, sister, Norma (Bob) Hesterberg of Gifford, Illinois, and a sister-in-law, Arlene Orth of Waverly. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles Orth, and a brother, Merlin Orth. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Waverly with Rev. Arthur Bergren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.
