"Ron" Ochsner, went home to his Lord and Savior Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings, NE. Ron was born on May 2, 1939 in Sutton, NE. to Marlin and Eileen (Salmen) Ochsner. Ron was raised on a small family farm in The Saronville, Nebraska Area. Ron attended a small country school in Saronville, NE. and graduated from Sutton (NE.) High School in 1956. He then attended UNL for one year studying engineering. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and returned to the farm in 1959. Ron was united in marriage to Beverly A. Pickering on August 10, 1962 and recently they celebrated their Golden Anniversary. They were blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. Ron was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, where he served as a church elder and Sunday school teacher. In addition to his church service and farming, Ron was an active member and officer of many organizations including Nebraska Corn Growers, National Corn Growers, Nebraska State FSA Committee, Congressman Osborne's Ag Advisory Committee, Sutton School Board, Sutton Education Foundation, Sutton Coop Board, Saronville Stockmen 4-H leader, and School Creek township chairman. He was also awarded the Golden Ear award for service to the corn industry from the Nebraska Corn Growers Association. Over the years, Ron enjoyed bowling, square dancing, singing, any Husker activity and attending as many of his children's and grandchildren's activities as possible. Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly Ochsner; children, Teresa (Jason) White of Broken Bow, NE.; Doug (Kellie) Ochsner of Andover, KS.; Amy (Dan) Baumert of Saronville, NE.; grandchildren, Katelyn, Mitchell and Alex White, Taylor and Kinsley Ochsner, and Kyle, Kylie, and Cole Baumert; brothers, Stanley (Linda) Ochsner, Jim (Cathy) Ochsner, and Jon (Lori) Ochsner, mother-in-law, Viola Pickering, as well as three sisters-in-law and their spouses and a host of relatives and friends. Ron was preceded in death by: parents, Marlin and Eileen Ochsner and father-in-law Virgil Pickering. Interment was in the Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, NE.
