He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Barbara (Zoucha) Urkoski. ------------------------------------ From the Columbus Journal Newspaper: A 69-year-old Silver Creek man is dead after being found floating Wednesday afternoon near the Loup Power Canal/Lake Babcock inlet. Authorities found Ronald Urkoski floating in the canal about 1/4-mile downstream from 48th Avenue and Castner's Crossing after an individual having lunch along the waterfront reported the body, according to Platte County Sheriff Jon Zavadil. Urkoski was fishing alone at the crossing and went into the water about 30 to 45 minutes before being found, Zavadil said. The Silver Creek man could have slipped into the canal or suffered a heart attack and died before going into the water, the sheriff said. No foul play is suspected.Platte County Coroner Carl Hart did not order an autopsy. The sheriff's office was assisted in a search of the water by Columbus Police Department, Columbus Fire Department, Platte County Emergency Management and Kim Wolfe of Husker Helicopter. Husker Helicopter had pinpointed the location of the body before authorities arrived on the scene, Zavadil said. At 2:36 p.m., members of the search and rescue team returned to the bank with the deceased man. A dark blue, four-door Chevrolet pickup with Merrick County license plates and fishing pole were also at the scene. The case remains under investigation.
